Ok, so I finally got one from MSD, and now i'm contemplating on how I can go about installing this unit.
My first was to put a switch on the clutch pedal so when the clutch is in, the lower rev limit will be enabled. However, it was brought to my attention that when you are shifting at redline, then wouldn't the 2-step cut the ignition during shifts because you are above the lower RPM limit?
So, my second idea was to remotely mount a switch inside the car. Then when i'm staged i can hold down this button, engaging the lower RPM limit, and when i launch i can release the button and switch over to the high RPM limit.
Problem here, is that this involves and extra 'thing' that I have to do during a launch. No big deal, but if i go this route, anyone have any bright ideas on where to mount this switch?
I thought about using the horn button on the steering wheel, but decided against it. Then considered mounting a button on the steering wheel somewhere, but thought that would be gay as I wouldn't be using it that often to have to hardwire something into the steer column.
So, I thought about just having a switch that dangles on the end of a length of wire that I can just pull out of my glove box at the track and zip tie to the shift knob. then when i'm done with it, i can hide it away again.
Suggestions? Ideas? Thanks!

Why don't you mount it under the clutch on the floor board? That way it is engaged when at the light but during your run you don't go all the way down with the clutch(all the way minus 1/4 inch for the button)

Well.. the thing is you DO (or at least I do) go all the way to the floor with the clutch pedal when i shift.

How about a triger switch on the left side of the stering wheel? Like a one finger triger at , like, 10:30 on the wheel?

Actually I would say if you are talking about the launch limiter I would mount it on the clutch pedal...think about when you shift...if you do a power shift the lower rev limit will keep you from over-revving....you could do a full throttle shift...most of the power shifts that you will do are so fast that you wont even notice it...unless you miss-shift...check out this Hondata demo video...about 6:50 into the video he explains the concept of the lower rev-limit when you shift..you will understand better after you see the video!

The professional draggsters have the rev limiter mounted into the steering wheel. Hold it with the thumb and release as you launch.

I don't think that idea/concept will work with the MSD unit because lets say you have a launch rpm of 4000rpms. Then when you shift, and press in the clutch, you will be above that RPM limit therefore the MSD will cut ignition until you release the clutch.
I can see that concept working if your rev limit is say 6500RPMS and you redline at 8000.. then when you shift, you will still be below or right around the shift point.

Do you shift like grandma???
Just Kidding!!
Trust me you wont even notice...besides are you going to have your launch limiter at 4k RPM...thats a little low...it all depends on you setup but 6k and higher is where I would expect to be....you are going to shift fast enough that you wont even notice...the MSD will cut the ignition for a split second..its not going to bring it all the way down to 4k..it just going to give you a real sweet power shift...you should mount it first on the clutch...take it to the track and try it out...I bet you will like it!!

One thing that you have to remember that is the stock rev-limiter is a fuel cut...the MSD unit cuts ignition..its different..not so violent...trust me it will be ok...wait until you line up once with that launch limit setup....it sounds badass!!..its like its studdering a little...I bet you wont even notice it in between shifts
